Every adoption is an adventure and a leap of faith, whether it’s your first time – or your 5th like Scott and Rachel Whitmire.
Scott and Rachel met in college and have been married for almost 12 years. Scott is a police officer and Rachel is a stay at home mom and also works for Reece’s Rainbow as our Post Adoption Care Coordinator. They have 4 beautiful children through adoption, including two precious girls with down syndrome, and they thought their family was complete. God must have smiled when they told Him their “plan”, though, because one more child has touched their hearts.
Scott and Rachel are excited to “yes!” to one more Whitmire – a tiny boy waiting in Eastern Europe. Nicholas is 4 years old and weighs only 15 pounds due to the poor conditions in his institution. He has cerebral palsy that has not been treated and is very much like an infant as a result. To the Whitmires, though, Nicholas is perfect and they can’t wait to have him join their family!
This adoption is a complete leap of faith for the Whitmires but they are trusting that God has got this and that He’ll provide! Will you help with their adoption expenses? Every dollar brings them just a little bit closer to welcoming Nicholas home.
