Emmitt 2013 (2)Frank (2)Alynn and Art Baker have been married for 26 years and live in North Carolina. While many couples tell how they always wanted to have a big family and always wanted to adopt, this was not the case with them. Alynn had not even heard of international adoption until the youngest of her three bio children was ten years old! This was the beginning of a journey of following God’s call to adopt, one step at a time.

After bringing home a healthy baby girl from China, Alynn discovered something else she had never heard of before: a Waiting Child List. Alynn had always been a cautious, non-adventurous, quiet mom, and God worked mightily in her heart and life as she and Art went on to adopt five more waiting children with various special needs: a total of four from China and two from Ghana. “Each adoption was a leap of faith. Each adoption was orchestrated by God,” Alynn said. “If you want to see miracles, you have to step out of the boat.” Art has always been game to adopt as many children as God directs and leads them to. He is always a tremendous support and encouragement to Alynn.

The Bakers state that they have never had the money for any of their adoptions, but God had been faithful to provide in one way or another to bring all their children home. After six adoptions, most of their resources have become depleted, especially after having recently arrived home with their latest son. But God tugged hard on Alynn’s heart until she was certain that He wanted Emmitt to be a part of their family and that what God has called them to do, He will see that it is done. The Bakers appreciate all the prayers that have been prayed for Emmitt over the years, and ask that you continue to pray as their process proceeds. The whole Baker family is very excited about their new brother coming home!!
