Joel and Stephanie Conner met at Calvary Chapel of Charleston, S.C., but fell in love while on a short term mission trip to a Mexican orphanage. They have been married for 10 years and have 2 children, both with special needs. Their first child was adopted from Mexico while they were teaching for 3 years in the same orphanage where they had first fallen in love. After the adoption was complete, they had to return to the USA because of their son’s medical needs. But orphan care and adoption was still their passion. They’ve experienced first hand the need for adoption, and also the JOY of adoption, especially regarding orphans with special needs. They have wanted to adopt another child with special needs for a long time and are excited that the door is finally opening! They are so thankful for God’s gift of little “Zhen” and can’t wait to bring him home to join Team Conner! They’ve decided to name him Gideon Gui Conner.
