“Seasoned Parents” is how you might describe Ethan and Randy. Married 32 years, they are parents to eight and parents-at-heart to several more. Their children (six bio and two domestic special needs adoption) are ages ten through thirty. With only two still at home, the Lanzes describe their house as “TOO QUIET!”
They have considered adoption from China for about fifteen years, and now their time has finally come! Finances are the final obstacle to making this dream a reality.
They received PA in August of 2012 for Abigail Dawn who is described as “a delightful six-year-old girl with piercing, bright eyes and a dazzling smile. ” She is very sweet and friendly and loves attention. Abigail is affected primarily in her lower limbs with Cerebral Palsy, causing a stiff, wide gate. Her CT scan showed a possible explanation for her delay in speech, though the international adoption specialist said that there was no way of really knowing the extent of her delays until she is home.
October of 2012 brought PA for Jennifer who is also six years old. She was in a wheelchair until just last fall (2011) when receiving a walker opened up a whole new world to her. She is described as “a quiet, and somewhat shy, hard-working, eager little girl, but the ease of her mobility kept her from keeping up with the other children her age.” While her legs are still weak, she now walks wherever she needs to go with a BIG SMILE on her face. Ethan and Randy are very excited at the possibilities that a loving family and therapy in the states may bring to Jennifer.
