Mike and Theresa Grimes met in a tiny college town in Emmitsburg Md. We have 8 wonderful sons ranging from 28-8 years old. While there is never a dull moment at our home we know we have lots of love to share. People keep telling us “your plate is full” our answer is “We have a lot of room in our hearts”.
Both Mike and Theresa always wanted a daughter and are thrilled to be getting her through the blessing of adoption.

We are the Winslow family; a family of 4 who is working towards becoming a family of 6, by adoption! Our story began in 2007, when I met my husband, Dan. Dan was an active duty PFC in the Army and was a very proud soldier. Sadly, and proudly, the day came when Dan received orders for his deployment to Iraq, and it was scheduled to be an 18-month long tour. When Dan deployed that day, I was about four months pregnant with our son; whom was named after his dad.
In 2010, Sam and Aaron met because two mutual friends found it strange that they both wanted “a lot of kids”. Their friends immediately introduced them. Within a few weeks, they were dating. Not long after, they had a serious talk about their future. Sam had grown up as a foster sister (her family had done foster care since she was 13). Her dream was to carry on that legacy. She wanted to foster and adopt. Aaron was fully supportive of this dream. Two short years later, they were married in July 2013!
We are the Woertman family and we are having so much fun with our children that we decided we needed one more. We are hoping to adopt a little girl with Down Syndrome. We live in the great state of North Carolina. We have 5 adult children, 5 school aged children and four Grandchildren.

We have been married for 10 wonderful years, and we have 3 amazing children. Brian is a student pastor at Point Harbor Church and Kristen is a Registered Nurse working in an elementary school.
The McKenney Family is pursuing a child with Down Syndrome in Eastern Europe. Adoption can be a long process, but they and their six children (5 biological, 1 adopted from foster care) are so excited to walk in obedience and add a beautiful gift from God to their family.
Carrie and Gary Mitchell are adopting again! In 2017 they brought home their daughter Preslava (4). In addition to Presley, they have two biological children, Constance (7) and Callie (5). All three girls are looking forward to bringing home their little brother!
Twenty years ago, Elijah and Tiffany Jackson fell in love. Two years later, they got married and built a home on the century-old family farm. They started a family, having two wonderful little boys fairly close together. Five years later they were blessed with a little girl with Down syndrome, and oh, how her brothers loved her!! It didn’t take any of them very long to realize Down syndrome was not something to fear or avoid, but something to celebrate and cherish! The thought had come to them while their little girl was still a baby that they should think about adopting a child with Down syndrome, so they checked Reece’s Rainbow here and there, but didn’t know how to take the first steps of such a big journey! So, for a time, the idea was forgotten. 10 years later, Heavenly Father made it very obvious that it was still in His plan for the Jackson’s to add to their family through adoption! With the help of a good friend, they got right to work. They are so excited and ready to have little sister in their home and to be in their family forever!
Roderick and Melissa have been happily married for eight years and reside in a small town in Illinois with their five wonderful children Adeson (12), Emery (11), Jacob (9), Ella Grace (7) and Casey(5). Four of their five children were adopted internationally, two from China and two from Ethiopia. Rod and Melissa have been committed to adoption, and both they and their extended families have been foster parents, adoptive parents, and advocates for humanitarian and children’s rights. They are also parents to Melissa’s seven children from her first marriage of 17 years Brandon (34), Ryan (deceased), Alex (25), Matthew (23), Sara (20), Emily (17) and Antonio (17), Alex, and Antonio were also adopted, one at age eight and one at age four from Russia and Guatemala. They believe their family is their calling and feel blessed to have had the blessing of family and friends throughout their life journey.
Hi, we are the Cochran family, Mike, Grace, Natalie (5), and Jason (3). We are a military family stationed on the beautiful island of Okinawa. Mike is an EOD tech (explosive ordinance disposal) in the US Marine Corps. He has served 10 years and plans to retire. Grace is a stay at home homeschooling mama. We have been married for 9 years. We have had a heart for adoption for a very long time but it wasn’t until this year that we felt God telling us that it was our time. We took a leap of faith with a whole lot of nothing in our pocket back in June of this year. We watched God use what little we had and multiply it. Within a months’ time we had enough to fund our first payment and homestudy for our China adoption. In July Mike came home from deployment and we got to work. Within a month’s time we managed to compile our dossier and complete our homestudy (yes it is doable!) During that time frame I came across an advocacy post for this precious little girl with Down Syndrome. We knew she was the one! She will be 2 years old this October and shares the same birthday as her soon to be daddy. We hope to travel early next year. This journey has not been easy and we still have so far to go but every day is one step closer to her. We know that God has such amazing plans for her life, so much bigger and more beautiful than we can imagine. Thank you for the honor of sharing our story with you. Luke and Kelly Grover are parents of four beautiful children. Three of which are biological. Their fourth, Zoey, was adopted from China in 2017. Even before their marriage Luke and Kelly knew they wanted a large family. After each of their children were born premature, their youngest child being born two months premature, they were advised by their doctor that having children biologically was a risk. While disappointed, they knew they would continue to grow their family another way. They wanted to find children who might have difficulty finding a forever family because of special needs. After bringing home Zoey, who has Down syndrome, and experiencing how much love and joy she brought to our family, they decided to try again. This time they were introduced to Holly, who also has Down syndrome, and absolutely fell in love. They are working through their dossier and immigration paperwork and hope to travel in early 2020. The entire Grover family is just excited to get our daughter home.
The Wilkinson family as been in the process to adopt now, for over 2 years. They have been married for 10 years and have a 15 yr old son and 7 and almost 9 year-old daughters. Jeremy is in the United States Army and Elizabeth was working but moving every 2 years has made things difficult to continue. Initially, when they felt the call to adopt, they started by getting licensed for foster to adopt. They had already discussed adopting a child with Down Syndrome but they waited as they never received a placement. After the heartbreak of waiting and thinking it may not happen, Elizabeth met a woman who had adopted once from a certain country program and was currently in the second adoption. So Elizabeth decided to contact an agency in regards to trying to adopt internationally. They saw a file for a little boy with down syndrome who was very young. Once her husband came home and she showed him the photo, he had already picked a name! This was in March 2017. They were excited yet apprehensive because of the high cost and not understanding the process fully. So, after a few weeks of not really knowing how to come up with the money, they decided they needed to remain with the foster care to adopt route. This decision was very difficult for Elizabeth. She prayed and cried daily about the little boy who stole both of their hearts. She continued to check with the agency, but they assured her another family had come forward for him. Fast forward to September 2017, they were back home visiting family and Elizabeth noticed the same little guy on Reece’s Rainbow with a decent sized grant! She couldn’t believe it so she reached out to Reece’s Rainbow to verify that he was indeed still available to adopt. Elizabeth talked to Jeremy and showed him the grant. They decided together that they would go ahead and pursue him. This time they were able to get his file from their agency. It has not been an easy road. After starting and completing their home-study and immigration approval, they got notice they would be moving quickly to another state. But determined not to lose their little boy’s file, Elizabeth located another home-study agency in their new state that had been used for the same country program!! The move slowed things down drastically and has added expenses but now they are in the final months before travel and still have a little bit more to come up with. They are continuously applying to grants and scraping every penny possible to finish. After 13 long months in the process for him so far they are eager to bring him home and spoil him with love!
Dan and Tara Brooke are parents of four beautiful children. The oldest three were born biologically to the Brooke family, while their fourth, was born in their hearts. In 2016 the Brooke family was gifted with their youngest child, George, through adoption. Dan and Tara had felt a call to adopt, but didn’t know exactly what that meant until 2014 when they felt the call to adopt a child with Down Syndrome. George was an instant match to the Brooke family and has been such a tremendous gift to their lives. He has gifted them with more joy and love than they ever imagined. In late 2018 the Brooke’s felt a call again. They were unsure how they were going to make adoption work financially in their lives again, but knew that they were supposed to adopt once again. Early in 2019 they began that process. They have been matched to Zack Qi and are in the midst of dossier and immigration paperwork. They hope to travel late 2019 or early 2020 to bring Zack home to their family and make him a Brooke too! Zack is already a member of their family, the love is already there, they cannot wait to hold him, love him, and care for him.
Kara and Christian met through mutual friends years ago, and each separately knew that the other was who they wanted to marry. Christian and Kara both work from home, so they are able to spend one on one time with their children, and devote the time needed to attend to every dance class, therapy and school function. An occasional date night sneaks in every so often too! Christian and Kara’s belief in God is a mutual one, and has been part of their marriage and family foundation their entire marriage with all life’s ups and downs. They know that it has been through Their belief in Him that they are where they are today. They have now been married 14 years and have 4 beautiful daughters, all of which are so excited to become big sisters, yet again!
